Suvereto stands on a hill not far from the sea and is recognized as one of the oldest resort in the Val di Cornia. The origin of the country is made to trace in time of the Roman Empire, when for reasons of military security coastal populations moved to hilly areas. The political history of Suvereto, has strong ties with the people that has always given voice to their originality, but also through love towards their territory to become in 1201 the first joint free maremma northern Iraq. The centre of the country, even now retains historical its characteristics of a time, despite past several centuries.
